Climbing Mulhacen 3.482 m, the top of Spain mainland

Mulhacen is the highest mountain of the Iberian Peninsula, the most remarkable summit of the Sierra Nevada range. This adventure brings you, in two days, to the very top of the mountain, with a night at the Poqueira mountain hut (2.500 m). We have designed a roundtrip tour that shows you the most interesting side of this mountain, passing through different landscapes and places. If the conditions are good we will try to reach the summit at 2.800 m high top for acclimatisation. We follow the normal route over the west ridge/slope, descending over the south slope. From the top, we could even see the mountains of the Rif range, in Africa. During Winter months (from November to May) the ascent will need the use of ice axe and crampons. However, it is not very technical and, therefore, it is suitable for beginners. From May to October, the range is, usually, free of snow, and the ascent is a high altitude hike.
