Climbing in Aosta Valley

Aosta valley can offer a big potential for all rock climber lovers; from 300 m to 3000 m asl a wide selection of crags, walls and spikes can satisfy both novices and confirmed climbers. Many single areas have proper features, in terms of rock quality, equipment and environmental and weather conditions, it means that we can consider it almost a 365 days rock climbing destination:

• The lower Aosta Valley is perfect for the middle seasons (spring and fall); many different crags and walls with easy and short approaches are destinated also to beginners.
• Other areas like the surrounding of the Rifugio Crete Seche are perfect as an intermediate step, before aspiring to bigger challenges; long routes in a middle mountain environment but with the comfort of a nice hut.
• The Triolet valley is a further step; multi-pitch routes with a bigger challenge, longer approaches with some glacier travelling give to the area a different allure.
• The Orco Valley even if not part of the Aosta valley territory, it is not so far to reach and for us is a classic destination. It is one of the European Meccas for trad climbing lovers. A place not to miss.
