The Pearl of the Apennines

Lake Scaffaiolo is a mountain hiking classic.
A small surprise set and protected in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, a UNESCO heritage site in the municipality of Lizzano in Belvedere.
An immortal path, a timeless evergreen that takes us to the small lake between the mountains of Corno alle Scale.
The first part of the walk will take place along the ancient road used by traders and pilgrims since the Middle Ages.
Once we reach the Arcane Cross Pass, a place of memory of the last world war, we will walk along path 00 eastwards through immense blueberry moors and the splendour of the panorama stretching as far as the Alps.
After about 2 hours of walking we will cross into Emilia, gaining the destination of our day, Lake Scaffaiolo at 1775 m altitude;
Legends and rumours are told about its existence and together we will discover the true geological and glacial nature of this magical place!
After lunch on the shores of the lake, we will resume our journey, returning briefly to our steps and at the Calanca Pass, we will bend sharply south to return to the Doganaccia.
The beauty of the ridge of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines in an excursion of unique charm to face at any time of the year.
In the winter months, we will be able to gain its shores with snowshoes.
