The hike starts at the very back of the beautiful Stubaital. The ascent leads first through sparse stone pine forests, later through rhododendron bushes and sheep pastures up towards the Mutterbergersee. From there we have a wonderful view of the glacier area of the Stubai Glacier with the surrounding peaks. Here we will have an extensive rest. The more daring can try their luck as mountain lake swimmers or just relax and unwind.
From the Mutterbergersee we descend briefly into the Wilde Grube before the trail climbs back up towards the Egesengrat. Behind the Egesengrat we descend to the Dresdner Hütte, where we can stop for a break. Afterwards we leave from there by train.
We cover about 1000 meters of altitude difference in ascent and about 500 meters in descent and the distance is about 8 km.
