CLIMB TO THE BERNINA 4.090M
Departure from the Diavolezza we go down the glacier and crossing it you reach the ridge of the Fortress. Going past some easy climbing passages and some frozen slopes you will cross under Bellavista and Zupo in a wonderful glacial environment just in front of "our" Bernina, and you will reach the refuge Marco and Rosa where you spend the night.
The next morning on an early hour we start towards the top initially on the glacier, then some steps on beautiful rock and sharp ridge and ... SUMMIT: with its 4.090m it is the most easterly one.
After having tasted the thin air of 4.000 meters go back to the shelter and after a short stop we are going to reach the Bellavista pass from where we will take the ridge that will allow us to cross the Palù.
Continuing east we will descend the steep shoulder to bring us on the glacier below to return to the Diavolezza and sip a fresh beer in the presence of these beautiful mountains.
SALITA AL BERNINA 4.090
Partenza dal Diavolezza si scende sul ghiacciaio e attraversandolo si raggiunge la cresta della Fortezza. Superando alcuni facili passaggi d’arrampicata e alcuni pendii ghiacciati si va in traversata sotto Bellavista e Zupo in un ambiente glaciale stupendo proprio di fronte al “nostro” Bernina, e si raggiunge il rifugio Marco e Rosa dove si trascorre la notte.
La mattina seguente di buon ora si parte verso la cima inizialmente su ghiacciaio, poi alcuni passaggi su roccia bellissima e affilata cresta e... VETTA: con i suoi 4.090m è quello più a oriente.
Dopo aver assaporato la sottile aria dei 4000 metri ridiscendiamo al rifugio e dopo una breve sosta via per raggiungere il passo di Bellavista da dove prenderemo la cresta che ci consentirà la traversata dei Palù.
Proseguendo verso est scenderemo la ripida spalla per portarci sul ghiacciaio sottostante per rientrare al Diavolezza e sorseggiare una birra fresca al cospetto di queste splendide montagne.
