LEONARDO’S LAND: SPORT BETWEEN NATURE AND HISTORY
We start from the small town of Chiesina Uzzanese to face a small journey that will take us to discover the land of Tuscany through paved roads. Before riding on the gentle hills we will ride along the Padule di Fucecchio, one of the largest wetlands in Europe where we often see the Herons on the side of the road. Up and down between vineyards and olive trees in the landscape that only this land can give. We make a small stop under the stork's nest and continuing on our way, we’ll find in Cerreto Guidi, one of the Medici's country villas with inside the museum of weapons of the Renaissance period. After a few kilometers downhill here before us stands Vinci with the tower set in the landscape. We pass the village, turn right and we are in Anchiano. We stop at the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. We return through secondary roads, immersed in nature, we see on the hills that frame the castle of Cecina first, then Montevettoli, Monsummano Alto and a whole series of traces of a distant and glorious past. If we still have time and strength we stretch and go to see the fortress of Serravalle Pistoiese, still intact, theater of wars in the Renaissance period between Lucchesi and Fiorentini for the conquest of the territory. Combining sport and tourism among nature with spectacular views is our goal and this is a quality only the land of Tuscany can give.
LA TERRA DI LEONARDO: SPORT TRA LA NATURA E LA STORIA
Partiamo dal piccolo centro di Chiesina Uzzanese per affrontare un piccolo viaggio che ci porterà a scoprire attraverso solo strade asfaltate la Terra di Toscana. Prima di pedalare sulle dolci colline costeggiamo il Padule di Fucecchio, area umida tra le più grandi in Europa dove spesso vediamo gli Aironi al lato della strada. Quindi su e giù tra vigneti e olivi secolari dentro il panorama che solo questa terra sa dare. Facciamo una piccola sosta sotto il nido della cicogna e proseguendo troviamo sulla nostra strada, a Cerreto Guidi, una delle ville di campagna dei Medici con all'interno il museo delle armi del periodo Rinascimentale. Pochi chilometri in discesa ecco davanti a noi si staglia Vinci con la torre incastonata nel paesaggio. Passiamo il paese, svolta a destra e siamo a Anchiano. Ci fermiamo alla casa natale di Leonardo da Vinci. Ritorniamo attraverso strade secondarie, immersi nella natura, vediamo sulle colline che ci fanno da cornice prima il castello di Cecina, poi Montevettoli, Monsummano Alto e tutta una serie di tracce di un lontano e glorioso passato. Se abbiamo ancora tempo e forze allunghiamo e andiamo a vedere la rocca di Serravalle Pistoiese, ancora integra, teatro di guerre nel periodo rinascimentale tra Lucchesi e Fiorentini per la conquista del territorio. Unire sport e turismo tra la natura con panorami spettacolari è il nostro obiettivo e questa qualità' solo la terra di Toscana la può dare.
