Length of the route approx. 45 km, maximum altitude 979 m above sea level.
Departure from Santadi to "Pantaleo", here we will take the dirt road that, passing through the ancient Roman baths, will lead us to the spring of "Is Figueras". In this site of high naturalistic value, we will take a breath before starting the most challenging part of our route: from here the climbs will be steep for about 6 km, reaching a maximum gradient of 18%.
Once in "Giommaria" we will continue the search for the Sardinian deer in the tracks of the park of Gutturu Mannu with inevitable stops to admire the breathtaking views of the Lower Sulcis.
The trail will wind up to Is Cannoneris, where some specimens of deer often let themselves be approached by the most curious, showing all their wild charm. We will have a break here before leaving for the Marian Sanctuary of Is Achilonis and then reach the famous water source of Isai.
Fill up the water bottles, a descent of about 7 km awaits us which will take us first to the ancient Genniomus' watering hole, then back to Santadi.
Difficulty of the excursion: high.
It requires good training and an abundant supply of water.
