The Großvenediger, the "worldly majesty", is the heavily glaciated main summit of the Venedigergruppe in the Hohe Tauern mountains on the border between East Tyrol and Salzburg. At 3,657 metres above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Salzburg.
Normal route
First day:
Meeting point is in Oberpinzgau at Neukirchen am Großvenediger near the Hopfeldboden at the entrance of the Obersulzbach valley. Transfer by taxi to the material cable car of the Kührsingerhütte (1.950 m). Moderate ascent to the hut via a marked hiking trail.

Second day:
By the light of headlamps we walk towards the glacier. With the first daylight we walk on the glacier. Roped up we walk across the huge glacier area of the Obersulzbachkees past crevasse zones to the Venedigerscharte (3.200 m). From here there are still 400 meters of altitude difference to the summit in increasingly thin air. For the "Grande Finale", the tour continues over the famous Firngrat to the summit cross. After an extensive rest, you return to the hut on the same path. After a small refreshment at the Kürsingerhütte we go down to the material cable car, where the taxi is already waiting.
