The route is mostly high-altitude, along former military roads. In front of Rocca la Meja, a plateau of incomparable beauty opens up to the eyes of the visitor. Accessible from three valleys, the Stura Valley (both from Sambuco and the Vallone dell'Arma), the Grana Valley and the Maira.
In the years of the last world war, the whole surrounding area was included in the realization of the great defensive work called Vallo Alpino with the construction of bunkers and barracks.
