The climb to the Roof of Europe by the normal Italian route (via del Papa) is a unique and grandiose experience.
The greater commitment required compared to the French "sister" is amply rewarded by the isolation and extraordinary beauty of the places we will go through.
Day 1
We start from Val Veny (Courmayeur) and in about 4-5 hours we reach the Gonella refuge (3,071m), where we will spend the night.
Day 2
Departure at night, you go up a troubled glacier to the Piton des Italiens and then to the ridge you intercept the Arete des Bosses, the normal French route that you follow to the top.
Vertical drop: + 1800m
Round trip time: about 14-15 hours
The descent generally takes place along the normal French route passing through the Gouter refuge and then with a train you reach the Chamonix valley.
Return to Italy by bus and taxi.
