In the footsteps of the Captains
Come with us on the trail of history! From Nago, a picturesque village on Lake Garda, going up the slopes of Mount Corno, we will have a real postcard landscape! Immersed in the greenery of a holm oak forest, we walk together through the defensive system of the Austro-Hungarian army, perfectly restored! But not only ... also geology: on the route we will find small giants' kettles (rock formations of glacial origin)!
Route:
From Nago (220 m) we quickly climb towards the cliffs of the "Belvedere", famous for climbing. Following the ancient rocky path, we quickly enter the holm oak forest. From the main path there are short detours to the giants' potholes and fusiliers. We reach the chestnut grove of Monte Corno (400 m) in about 40 minutes and from here we continue towards "La Busa dei Capitani" (480 m), where we visit the ruins of the command post. From here, the trail no. 637 begins, which leads to the above location of Tre Croci (580 m). A short stop and a visit to the restored tunnels before returning, which we will follow on different tracks. We will then follow path no. 637 again towards Nago, closing the circular tour.
