I know, Santa Marinella is known as a beautiful little town on the seacoast, with its beautiful historical houses from the 1920s and the best sea within an hour from Rome. Guess what: it is true! But not exhaustive, because this beautiful town lies directly on the southern slopes of the Tolfa Mountains: that's why is also one of the best places in central Italy for Mountain Biking! Just a few pedal strokes and we will enter one of the best-preserved natural areas of Lazio region, with acres and acres of untouched nature, mountains, animals in the wild and archaeological treasures from Etruscan, Roman and Middle Age. The ascent is steep, but with pedal-assist Mountain Bikes provided by me for you, it'll be easy enough to allow us to enjoy the beauty that is surrounding us. Once at the top, we'll have the chance to rest a little bit and enjoy the astonishing view on the coast, the volcanic dome called Mount Tolfaccia (don't worry, this is dormant since 23 million years...) and the ruins of the homonymous Roman villa built in II Century A.D.
The way down to Santa Marinella will be amazing: we will have the chance to appreciate beautiful panoramas, the typical nature of the area and some untouched samples of Mediterranean bush. A bit bumpy at the end, but we're not racing: we can walk our bikes if we need to. Finally, a short ride through the historical part of Santa Marinella and a drink!
