Itinerary: Start at 9:30 a.m. from S. Stefano di Sessanio on the beautiful provincial road that will lead us to the lake of Racollo with a short stop at the homonymous refuge (1600 a.s.l.). Afterwards, we will head east totally immersed in the Campo Imperatore Plain (The Small Tibet of Abruzzo). Among breathtaking views and enchanting trails, we will discover the Canyon of Valianara, location of many films of the genre "Spaghetti Western", shot in the '70s and '80s. Subsequently, we will reach the famous area of Fonte Vetica with the possibility to have an aperitif in the historic Ristoro Mucciante at the foot of Monte Camicia.
After that, the excursion will proceed westwards with the massif of Gran Sasso omnipresent in the background and the chain of Monti della Laga as a frame. After a few kilometres at high altitude, we will take the panoramic road that descends to Santo Stefano, from which it is possible to admire the Sirente-Velino chain and La Maiella to the east. The return to Santo Stefano is expected in time for a possible lunch.
