Great tour Etna Alcantara
This tour allows you to visit both Mount Etna and the Alcantara Gorges in a single day.
In the morning we will visit Mount Etna with the Sartorius Craters of 1865. It is a pleasant and enjoyable trekking on the North-East side of Etna, with a particular geological and botanical interest. Here it is possible to admire, according to the seasons, numerous endemic species of Etna, including fragrant tufts of Tanaceto, pulvini of Spino Santo Astragalus Siculus, Camomilla and Saponaria, a marvellous Aetnensis Birch Wood and numerous volcanic bombs of considerable size.
After the excursion to the Sartorius Craters we will head to the Alcantara Valley, along the Mareneve and through areas where prevails the cultivation of vineyards for the production of Etna DOC wine, olive groves for the production of extra virgin olive oil and seeing Castiglione di Sicilia one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, We will cross Francavilla di Sicilia and arrive at the spectacular Alcantara Gorges where, after being guided inside its eroded basaltic walls, it is possible in summer to swim and sunbathe.
