We start from the town of Fornovolasco and walk up along the ancient mule track that for centuries has led merchants and pilgrims from Versilia to Garfagnana. Once we reach the pass we begin the aerial ascent towards our destination surrounded by immense views.
Monte Forato and its magnificent arch suddenly appear to us, a surprise made of stone and millions of years old.
After a regenerating stop to admire this marvel, we set off again. We hike along ridges and cross beech woods to the feet of the Regina. From Foce di Valli we can admire Pania della Croce and Uomo Morto.
We descend towards the starting point among meadows, woods and ruins that recall an ancient time.
Our journey will be a ring-route of 10 km with a height difference of about 800 m; we will walk for about 6 hours. Given the difficulty of the route, it is aimed at people who are minimally trained to walk in the mountains.
