A Sunday to discover the evolution of a glacier through the identification of the signs of its transition during the phases of advance and retreat. Immersed in the Natural Park of Alta Valsesia, we can also enjoy the nature and the unique landscape that this valley encloses.
Meeting point in Alagna Valsesia (VC) at the parking lot of the Wold. Here we will leave our car and leave for the Crespi Calderini refuge. The first part of our route will develop on an asphalted road closed to traffic, where we will walk along the feldspar mine and the ancient buildings for the extraction of gold. Once we reach the Acqua Bianca locality, we will enter the larch wood on the mule track that will lead us to the Pastore refuge. We will observe the signs left by the glacier, the mountain boulders, the Marmitte dei Giganti and the Caldaie del Sesia. We will continue our ascent along the path that will take us to the Crespi Calderini hut where we will stop for a packed lunch or at the refuge (ask the guide for more information when booking the excursion) inside this wonderful basin that once was an alpine lake at the base of Monte Rosa.
Ascent time: 2,30 hours
Hiking tours can be modified by the guide depending on the individual skills of the participants and the weather and climate conditions.
The guide is at your disposal to put in contact people leaving from the same area to optimize the cars and lower the cost of transfer.
