The best way to discover this mountain in summer is by climbing its most spectacular ridge, reaching the summit and descending from the normal route. A journey to the highest peak in Altoadige, a giant surrounded by a spectacular high mountain environment!
PROGRAM:
Day 1: meet with the mountain guide, travel by own means to Solda (or possibility to arrange transport together with the guide), ascent to the Coston hut (2400 m), dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: from the hut start the ascent of easy snowy slopes that gradually steepen until you reach the actual rocky ridge that you face partly on snow and partly with passages on the rocks, go around some more vertical rocky sections.
Elevation gain and difficulty : 750 meters uphill and Medium difficulty of III/AD; mostly Snow and Ice with short mixed passages max 3rd-4th grade
Duration : 7 to 9 hours for the full traverse.
GEAR needed:
Waterproof crampon boots, gaiters, sheet sack for the hut, harness, helmet, headlamp, 2 carabiners, crampons, ice axe. For those without, the guide provides harness, helmet, carabiners, crampons, ice axe.
Cost includes: the Mountain Guide service and gear for the day.
Cost does not include: travel, food, hut expenses for you and for the Mountain Guide.
