Samaria Gorge

Starting from Omalos plateu, Xyloskalo 1280m above sea level we are going to hike thtought Samaria gorge 16 km long.
For the first 4km the path is steep enough then the path is folloed perallied the river crossing also many times.
In the half way there is the old village of Samaria where you can see also krikri(eagagrus cretica).
The nerrowest point is Portes wich is only 3 m wide..
A lot of endimic plants exist in the gorge whole is a refuge for birds wild goats and many other spices.
Ending at the coat there is Agia Roumeli where there is a beach of crystal clear water and where there are several tabernas and cafeterias.
The ferry to use for returning is also there.
