The altitude of Monte Cuccio exceeds one thousand meters (snow in winter). From here it is possible to admire the whole city and the Gulf of Palermo, from the Isola delle Femmine to Capo Zafferano and in the days of the maestrale to the promontory of Cefalù. During the ascent to the Mount, which can be done by different routes of varying difficulty, you will cross several pine forests on the slopes of various heights. Uphill or downhill you will walk along panoramic paths, passing through the following ancient villages:
- San Martino Delle Scale, where you can admire the ancient Abbey;
- the ancient Benedictine monastery of Castellaccio Di Monreale of the 17th century;
- Monreale, where you can stop and visit its cathedral, a place of interaction for tourists.
This route offers many variations depending on the level of training and what you want to see. From here you can reach the historical centre of Palermo or leave for the Piana degli Albanesi Lake by crossing an ancient railway.
Recovery stage with refreshments included.
