The Via Ferrata della Marmolada runs along the west ridge. Technically it is not very difficult, but you find yourself crossing two glaciers in an alpine environment. For this reason you need good physical training and a good sunny day. The total time of the hike is approx. 6 - 7 hours. From the Fedaia Pass, after crossing the dam, you reach the parking lot of the Fedaia - Marmolada cable car (now closed). Continue along the path to Pian dei Fiacconi in the direction of Forcella Marmolda where, once the crampons have been removed, the via ferrata begins until the end of the rocks and then reaches Capanna Marmolada and the cross of Punta Penia. Ascent time 4 hours, 1100 m difference in height uphill. The descent is along the normal route with a short stretch of not difficult via ferrata and through the glacier you return to Pian dei Fiacconi and Fedaia. Descent time: 3 hours.
