Discover the beauty of the Dolomites with a mountain bike tour on the Sellaronda, the famous hiking trail that runs around the Sella mountain group, one of the most beautiful valleys in Trentino-South Tyrol.
You will ride along wonderful mountain bike paths and paths specifically designed for MTB, classic or electric bikes. You will immerse yourself in a unique scenery where you can run wild in complete freedom, following the precious indications of an expert guide.
You will reach the most panoramic viewpoints by cable car and then go downhill and enjoy the adrenaline rush, amplified by the beauty of an environmental site that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. What more could you ask for?
What we are going to do:
Our tour will start from Selva di Val Gardena, in the province of Bolzano, where all participants will meet the guide (maximum 8 participants). You can use your own mountain bike or rent it in one of the many shops in the village at an average price of 50€ for the whole day. After you get your bike we will take the Dantercepies gondola lift.
Next to the top station of the lift, there is the first descent, a single trail that leads to Passo Gardena, and then we will continue to Passo Campolongo. We will find ourselves in the heart of the Dolomites and, among smooth paths, adrenaline-filled descents and cable car ascents, we will reach the most spectacular viewpoint of the tour, from where we can admire the frozen peak of Marmolada and Lake Fedaia.
From here we will face a particularly demanding descent and, afterwards, from Passo Pordoi we will take a long trail that will take us to the village of Canazei, where we can stop to catch our breath and eat something. Afterwards, another cable car ride will take us to Passo Sella, the last of the four passes of the Sellaronda, and from here, via a path at the foot of the Sassolungo, we will return to the starting point in Selva di Val Gardena.
The route is 58 km long. The uphill difference in altitude will be a little more than 300 m, while the downhill difference in altitude will be much longer, with its 3900 m. The duration depends on the level of the participants, but it is good to consider the commitment of a whole day, on average 8 hours.
To whom it is addressed:
This activity is at an intermediate level. You need to know how to ride a MTB on easy dirt terrain, be able to tackle descents and have minimal aerobic resistance. For the less trained it is advisable to rent an electric MTB. For the more experienced, it is possible to choose a more challenging route variant (inform the guide after the booking). You can participate from 16 years of age upwards. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
