From 29 to 31 JULY 2022,
A splendid 3 days of trekking, exploring the only granite island of Lagorai.
The Granite's High Route (Alta Via del Granito) is a splendid circular crossing in the singular granite island of the Cima d'Asta Group - Cimon di Rava, in the Lagorai chain.
The Alta Via runs through a network of ancient paths and former military roads, dating back to the First World War, connecting the only two refuges of the Group.
Three days of walking among stupendous natural landscapes, severe memories of the Great War, huts and mountain pastures, exemplary testimonies of the ancient and now almost dissolved pact of man with nature.
Meeting and preparations at Malga Sorgazza (Val Malene - Tesino). Departure for the Brentari Refuge (2,476 m) passing through the "Bualon" and the "Laste", characteristic granite slabs, clear evidence of the work of the ice during the last glaciation. After reaching the Refuge, we will ascend ⛰ to the fantastic Cima d’Asta (2847 m - 1¼ hours, 370 m in altitude), the highest peak of the group and an exceptional panoramic point. Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge;
Breakfast and departure for the second day of walking. From the refuge, through Forcella Socede and Forcella Magna, where important testimonies of the Great War can be seen, one reaches the east side of Cima Lasteati and Monte Cengello with a pleasant walk at high altitude. Once we get off at the Forcella delle Buse Todesche, we will be able to enjoy a short ascent ⛰ on the evocative peak of the same name. Finally, we will be able to admire the beautiful lakes of the Val dell’Inferno, before descending to the bucolic pastures of the Caldenave Refuge (1792 m). Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge;
Breakfast and departure for the third and last stage. From the Refuge, go up into the woods, under the imposing Cima Caldenave. Reached Forcella Ravetta (2219m), with an easy and panoramic crossing over the head of the Val di Rava, you arrive at Forzelon di Rava (2397m). From here it is possible to climb ⛰ to Cimon Rava (2436 m - beautiful view of the peaks of the Cresta del Frate). We then descend to Forcella Quarazza and, from there, to Lake Costa Brunella, until we reach Malga Sorgazza, the starting point of our trekking. Here, in the early afternoon, we will be able to enjoy a well-deserved beer and have a snack in good company, before the final farewell and the return home.
