TREKKING EMOTION
** From 18 to 21 AUGUST 2022 **
An always different and always surprising path.
A ring route that connects ZEBRÙ VALLEY with FORNI VALLEY, far from the stress of the city, between glaring glaciers, sublime peaks, splendid valleys and dense coniferous forests, in the heart of STELVIO NATIONAL PARK.
This trek is expected to climb to the top of MONTE CONFINALE (3370 m).
TREKKING DETAILS
1st DAY
Meeting and preparations at the Niblogo car park (or Fantelle car park, depending on availability). Departure for the legendary Quinto Alpini Refuge (m. 2877) covering almost the entire spectacular Zebrù Valley, passing through its numerous and characteristic groups of huts and the beautiful Rifugio Campo (m 1989). After having taken our place in the Refuge, we'll make a short excursion to admire the nearby and suggestive Zebrù Glacier. Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge;
2nd DAY
Breakfast and departure for the second day of walking. From the refuge, we will go up the head of the Zebrù Valley and, through the Northern Zebrù Pass (3001 m), we'll cross over into the suggestive Cedec Valley. With breathtaking views of Gran Zebrù, Monte Cevedale, Punta San Matteo and all the "13 Peaks", we'll pass through the Pizzini Refuge, we will descend the entire valley to emerge in the wide Forni Valley where, in short, we will reach the historic Forni Glacier's Refuge (2,178 m). Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge;
3rd DAY
Breakfast and departure for the third day of walking, today entirely focused on the ascent to the important summit of Monte Confinale (3370 m). With a pleasant and spectacular route, we will enter the Manzina Valley, we will touch the magnificent lake of the same name, we will stop at the Del Piero Bivouac and, with a last effort, we will climb one of the most panoramic peaks in the area.
We will make the descent to Forni Refuge along the same itinerary. Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge;
4th DAY
Breakfast and departure for the fourth and last day of the walk. From Forni Refuge, through a convenient network of paths and forest roads, we will touch the mountain pastures of Raseit, Ablés, Confinale di Sopra and Cavallaro, and then descend again to the entrance of Zebrù Valley and, in short, reach Niblogo (or Fantelle) , starting point of our trekking. Here, in the early afternoon, we will be able to enjoy a well-deserved beer and have a snack in good company, before the final farewell and the return home.
INFORMATIONS
Max difficulty: E with some EE sections (Expert Hikers);
Altitude difference: approx. 3100 m overall to be divided into 4 stages (including ascent to Monte Confinale);
Development: 52 km overall to be divided into 4 stages;
Walking time: approximately 5/6 hours a day (23 hours overall). Walking times do not include stops and a long break for lunch;
Meals: Packed lunch for all 4 days; Dinner and breakfast in the shelters where you are staying;
Overnight stays: in the Refuge (bring a sheet bag).
Recommended clothing: hiking clothing suitable for the season, medium capacity backpack (35/40 liters) and backpack cover, spare shirts, softshell, waterproof and windproof shell, second light fleece layer, medium / light technical trousers, gloves and hat.
Footwear: trekking boots with sculpted sole (preferably in Vibram);
Material in tow: Sunscreen, sunglasses and hat, spare parts, energy bars, food and drinks (calculate food for lunch for all 4 days and a minimum of 1 liter of liquids per day) that can be purchased on site or easily available from numerous sources.
