Freeriding at Val Thorens

Although Les 3 Vallées has more than 600 km perfectly groomed slopes, you prefer exploring remote mountain areas and being in deep contact with nature. This course will help you to discover the vastness of Val Thorens and Les 3 Vallées in a secure and safe way.

Based on the weather and snow conditions, your experience and motivation, I will select the most appropriate off-piste slopes for the day.

During the day we will discuss different safety measures that are relevant when going off-piste, such as

  • off-piste attitude
  • secure behavior when you are riding on your own, with two or in group
  • use of your avalanche backpack, avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe
  • impact of altitude, wind, snow, vertical drop, orientation, level and motivation of your colleague riders

The course is open to all those who wish to go freeriding (ski or snowboard), without age restriction. You have to have some experience off-piste. The course will be adapted to your experience, motivation, and momentum.
